Day for Daniel : Friday 28 October 2011
Harm Prevention and Fun - a great combination!
On Behalf of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation the NMPCC invite you all to join us in a day which focuses on Child Saftey Awarenss.
Now in it's 6th year, Day for Daniel continues to grow on a National Scale and is recognised as Australia's largest participation event of it's type.
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in 2005 by Denise and Bruce Morcombe following the tragic abduction and suspected murder of their 13 year old son Danuel in December 2003.
To promote the Foundation's aims of making the world a safer place for children, an annual awareness Day for Daniel is held, involving schools and local communities. In 2011 up to 500,000 school aged children are expected to participate on a local level.
A variety of activities are suggested these range from a talk about internet safty in class, a presentation by a school based police officer, completing an interactive educational program like 'Being Safty Smart', watching the DVD titled 'Foundation Red' or participate in a Community Walk. These education activities are designed to provide life skills for children in a fun informative manner without the fear factor.
We encourage that a red flavour be incorporated in the day - a colour which links Daniel's story in aa discrete way to the importance of Child Safty Education.
Day for Daniel is nopt a memorial day - It is a learning day for our children.
NMPCC and the AFP encourage everyone to support this initiative.
