National Youth Week: 28 March – 5 April
Neighbours stars Margot Robbie (Donna Freeman) and Matthew Werkmeister (Zeke Kinski) attended the National Youth Week (NYW) Video Hits Live Concert to raise awareness and educate young people about the impacts of missing persons. Margot was the official missing persons youth ambassador for the concert on Saturday 28 March at Reddcliff Place, Brisbane. The concert attracted hundreds of young people who turned up to celebrate the launch of NYW with Video Hits hosts Fuzzy and Hayden. Free live entertainment included performances from Evermore, Bob Evans and Brisbane's local band The Butterfly Effect. Appearance from other NYW ambassadors included Jacqui Alexander, Sermsah bin Saad and Dan Adams.
A 'missing?' booth was set up at the concert where Margot and Matthew spent the duration of the concert distributing and autographing 'missing?' tees and other merchandise. The booth was flooded by hundreds of fans!
20,000 young people under the age of 18 are reported missing every year in Australia, mainly females aged between 13 and 17 years. NYW and the Video Hits Live Concert provides the opportunity to interact directly with young people in an effort to communicate important key messages about missing persons.
