National Missing Persons Week 2015: Follow your instincts

Follow Your Instincts Poster

Follow your instincts. You don't have to wait 24 hours before reporting someone as missing.

National Missing Persons Week (NMPW) is an annual event which takes place during the first week of August. NMPW aims to raise community awareness of the significant issues and impacts associated with missing persons in Australia.

Research shows there are several myths about missing persons commonly held within the community. One of the NMPCC's awareness objectives is to dispel these myths in the hope that it will reduce the incidence of missing persons. The 2015 Theme for National Missing Persons Week 'Follow your instincts', directly addresses these common myths.

The launch of NMPW 2015 will be a joint media event coordinated by the AFP and hosted jointly with the NSW Police Force in Sydney on Monday 3rd August 2015.

In previous years missing person's profiles have been seen in NSW and VIC on outdoor media such as billboards, shopping centres and taxi backs. In 2015 the AFP has extended this reach through a signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Outdoor Media Association (OMA) where most states across Australia will now be displaying missing person's profiles via these means.
