Somewhere someone is thinking about you...
National Missing Persons Week (NMPW) is the NMPU's annual major public awareness initiative, to be run from 5 to 11 August this year. NMPW 2001 is a prevention based campaign targeted towards encouraging communication between young people in Australia and their families. Our main message for this year is "Somewhere someone is thinking of you. Friends and loved ones need to know you're OK" .
The National Missing Persons Unit (NMPU) coordinates and facilitates a national approach to missing persons. The NMPU at the Australian Bureau of Criminal Intelligence represents law enforcement agencies, and non government tracing agencies such as the Australian Red Cross, the Salvation Army and International Social Service. It seeks to involve the Australian community in working to reduce the number of missing people and to reduce the consequences when people do go missing.
