Ryan went missing in Rishikesh, India on 24 August 2005. He was last seen leaving an ashram called "Sri Ved Niketan", located at Rishikesh (City) in Northern India wearing only his shorts. When Ryan left the Ashram, he was not carrying any identification, wallet or mobile phone.
