Circumstances

Damian Cauchi, then aged 21 years, left his Mount Gambier home to take up residence in Adelaide in early August 1998. The last reported sighting of Damian was in August 1998 when he was seen in the company of another man. He was reported missing by his parents in September 1998.

He was believed to associate with a number of people involved in criminal activities, but it is not known if this played a role in his disappearance. His disappearance is not consistent with his usual behaviour as he maintained regular contact with his parents. Damian’s bank accounts have not been accessed since the time of his disappearance.

Detectives coordinated a search of scrub land at Borrika near Karoonda as it was believed this may have been where Damian had been buried. His body was not located.

Police suspect Damian has been murdered and his disappearance is linked with the disappearance of Russell Bradshaw in 1992, who is also suspected to have been murdered.

If you have information that may assist police with Damian's dissapearance please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
